Ameristar Casino, Kansas City, Missouri

For the 2002 expansion of the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, splendor was a stipulation. Ameristar had purchased the property in 2000 and was making an investment in quality. When Ameristar - which lists "innovative architecture" as the first item on its five-part corporate lexicon - was looking for the best quality on the market, they called Stromberg. The Kansas City complex features 140,000 square feet of gaming space, nine restaurants, live entertainment, an 18-screen movie theater, a children's complex, a video arcade and a 184-room hotel. Stromberg supplied numerous elements for this first class facility which included columns, surrounds, sills, wall caps, and panels. The Stromberg elements were cast from Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum (GFRG) and Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC).

For exterior amenities, GFRC offers an ideal solution for both durability and design appeal. Weighing substantially less than concrete, GFRC offers faster installation and flexibility in design while also providing superior weather resistance and durability over the long term.

GFRG provides an excellent material for working with indoor design elements. This thin, lightweight material is surprisingly strong and carries with it many benefits including fire protection and easy installation.
