Darden School of Business
The Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration on the north grounds of the University of Virginia is a premiere educational institution dedicated to training the executives of tomorrow. The facility encompasses five buildings and is constructed in revivalist Jeffersonian style, utilizing a large number of columns that wind their way around the facility. During the second phase of construction when it was time to bring in the best possible columns for the complex, Stromberg was brought in for the best results. Phase II of the project was completed in 2002.
Stromberg Architectural Products is the industry leader in manufacturing columns from our Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC). Stromberg is, in fact, the manufacturer of the tallest standing columns on the planet. Our designers are fully familiar with all of the architectural styles and demands necessary to produce the very best columns for any new construction or renovation.
GFRC also provides many advantages over true concrete in that it is lighter in weight and more durable against weathering effects such as constant exposure to seawater. While being lighter in weight, it maintains a higher tensile strength than steel and is also a naturally fireproof barrier. GFRC can be molded to fit most any shape and can be finished out to mimic a variety of materials from stone to metal to wood. GFRC can also provide an excellent material choice for a host of other products.
