Seventh District Court of Appeals
The courthouse for the Seventh District Court of Appeals in Youngstown, Ohio, is an exceptional new construction in a downtown area that prides itself for not changing significantly since the 60s. Every effort had to be made to make sure that the structure fit in well with the atmosphere of the area and that the highest standards of quality were maintained.
It is in this type of environment that Stromberg Architectural Products shows its true colors. Stromberg manufactured the columns that immediately greet the eye of every visitor to the court building. These columns were crafted using Stromberg's Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC).
Stromberg is the industry leader in manufacturing columns made from GFRC. GFRC is a fireproof material that mimics the look and feel of true concrete at a fraction of the weight, greatly reducing the stress on the strength of a building. GFRC can be expected to resist weathering at least as well as true concrete, but even more so in environments where the structure is apt to prolonged exposure to saltwater. With a tensile strength higher than steel, GFRC also makes an excellent choice for the production of elements that will be placed in high traffic areas.
